April 24: Yau, Hyland, Neuman

John Yau has published books of poetry, fiction, and art criticism. Recent publications include Further Adventures in Monochrome (Copper Canyon, 2012), A Thing Among Things: The Art of Jasper Johns (D.A.P/Distributed Arts Publishers, 2008) and Exhibits (Letter Machine Editions, 2010). In 1999, he started Black Square Editions, a small press devoted to poetry, fiction, translation, and criticism. He was the Arts Editor for the Brooklyn Rail (2007-2011) before he began writing regularly for Hyperallergic Weekend.

Laura Neuman is a poet and teacher living in Philadelphia. Her poetry book, Stop the Ocean, was published by Stockport Flats in 2014. Ze is also the author of a chapbook, The Busy Life (Gazing Grain Press). Poems have appeared in Troubling the Line, Fact-Similie, La Norda Specialo, XPoetics, Jupiter 88, The Brooklyn Rail, and Small Portions. This winter, she forayed into GRIT, an experimental process-based exchange with Philadelphia-based dancer and choreographer Greg Holt. 

John Hyland recently relocated to the Philadelphia area from Buffalo where he completed a PhD in English and performed with the Buffalo Poets Theater. He currently teaches at Haverford College. Habenicht Press recently published his chapbook, The Novice.
